Simon Willison has a rule and belief I think I want to adopt: “I believe that the price you have to pay for taking on a project is writing about it afterwards. ” I LOVE THIS! Another way he puts it : “I recommend adding ‘write about it’ to your definition of ‘done’ for anything that you build or create.” I want to work towards adopting this practice, at least for my personal projects; perhaps for

A few years ago I came across Steph Ango’s 40 Questions to ask Yourself Every Year . Since then, I’ve made it a practice in the last week of the year to work through those questions in my Bullet Journal. I’ve really loved the practice. I love the last few days of December every year — the closing of one chapter and the opening of a new chapter feels so hope-giving to me.

My wife and I have these pancakes on Saturdays, and we love them. Deliciousness, while hitting your macros. I adapted the recipe from this video . I’ve included two versions: a conventional option, and a sheet pan option. We’ve been using the sheet pan option most recently, as it’s much simpler and doesn’t require standing at a stove for a long time. NOTE: measurements below are for roughly 1 pers

I recently joined the executive leadership team at the non-profit Waha , as their Localization Director . I have committed to work with them for the next 3 years with the goal of shipping their app and curriculum in 80+ new languages during that time. This has been a role I’ve been really loving. It has been stretching and demanding in all the ways I love. The role requires a high degree of compet

I have been pretty outspoken on my love of RSS as a replacement for social media feeds. It’s a recurring topic on this blog. There have even been a number of people who found my post How to Subscribe to Mailchimp Newsletters With RSS through a random Google search, and later ended up reaching out to me and thanking me for writing it because they found it useful. (If you’re one of those readers, He

Sometimes it’s easy to fall prey to the dual lies that 1) we’ll have our loved ones in our life more-or-less forever, and 2) that love is something that we can give too much of or run out of. It can be easy to withhold a kind word because we think we might not be creative enough to top it or live up to it later… or we might decide not to give that gift, thinking that maybe it would be better to wa

A running list of things that have caught my attention / interest as of late, which I'd love to buy (or have given as a gift 😉) sometime, but that is not the right time yet. 😊

I love personal websites and blogs. The idea of having a little chunk of the internet that is wholly yours , where you can post , and create , and make completely on your own terms is really cool to me. I’ve loved creating content that way the last few years. And I’m also finding that I really like consuming content from people who create that way. A blog on a personal website tends to feel so muc

I’m an ever-growing fan of the webcomic medium. I love the diversity of styles. I love the jokes. I love reading the archives of a good webcomic and seeing the creator’s progression and improvement overtime. Maybe most of all, I just love getting a chuckle when a comic comes up on my RSS reader , and getting to share that chuckle by passing it on to a friend. (Dear friends, sorry about all the web

by Josh Müller Of the dozens of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, my personal favorite has to be Black Panther . There is so much I love about it: I love that it was a movie that many people didn’t expect much of, and yet it became one of the top grossing movies of all time ; I love the themes of healing and redeeming generational injustices; and I love the message that we need to chose to

“Peacemaking doesn’t mean passivity. İt is the act of interrupting injustice without mirroring injustice, the act of disarming evil without destroying the evildoer, the act of finding a third way that is neither fight nor flight but the careful, arduous pursuit of reconciliation and justice. İt is about a revolution of love that is big enough to set both the oppressed and the oppressors free.” ~ C

You’re creative. Whether you feel that’s true or not, you have a creative gift that is uniquely you . So, here is a challenge for you: Go, create something, today. Bake something, write something, draw something, design something, build something, record something… and put it out there! There are people who love what you do and want more of what you’ve created in their lives. There are people whos

When I was a kid, I hated history class. To me, it was nothing more than a list of names, dates, and facts about wars and dead people that I was required to memorize. I never saw how it actually applied to my life. But in last few years, I’ve started to LOVE history — largely because I’ve come across amazing stories and nuggets of history that I think are really worth talking about, but which we l

← Back to Dad’s memorial service On January 7, 2022, one year after Dad’s memorial service, Mom wrote this reflection looking back on the day, on God’s faithfulness, and on who Jerry was. This morning I awoke and was taken back to a year ago, the day of Jerry’s funeral. I recalled how when I woke up that morning I thanked God for His love and care and provision and asking Him for strength and His

← Back to Dad’s memorial service A playful, deeply affectionate anniversary message Dad wrote for Mom, weaving together Oak Ridge Boys song titles into their love story. Way back in the spring of 1990, while Duane, Joe, Steve and Richard ( THE OAK RIDGE BOYS ) and their roadies were packing up after a concert in Regina, a young courting couple, Jerry and Shirley were heading home from the show, st

Download Audio Blessed are those who do not jump to conclusions, for they will see the world with unveiled eyes. Blessed are those who humbly assume they’re not right about everything. They will inherit understanding. Blessed are those who react with sadness instead of outrage, for their tears are seeds that will grow into trees of joy. Blessed are those who love vehemently, unconditionally, and i

Notes : We love peace, and we love people, and we want to see and know peace in ourselves, in our communities, and in the world. Today, almost everyone has a Social Media account, and there’s some ways that effects our peace that we need to talk about. So we’re going to talk about that today!

I invest way too much time in incremental clicker games. I don't mind K-Pop music (but like K-BBQ more). Most importantly, I love a good pun.
